Greetings! I want to personally invite you to the 2003 Hallmark of Achievement III All-Class Reunion. For some of you it has been quite a while since you have visited the University of Oklahoma and many things have changed. This reunion celebration is to explore the changes since the 1948 Supreme Court decision of Sipuel vs. The Board of Regents of The University of Oklahoma.
As you are reviewing the registration information, you will see that Ken Lawson, Reunion Chair and the planning committee have tried to offer workshops, programs, and events that will interest all participants. Some of our honored guests include national sports announcer/commentator Spencer Tillman and jazz musician Wayman Tisdale. Since our last reunion, we have grown and developed as an organization. Through the efforts of the National Black Alumni and the local chapters, we have given over 40 scholarships; supported the leadership and development programs of the Black Student Association and the African-American Student Affairs Office, and assisted the university in the recruitment of African-American students.
This promises to be a very special weekend! Come and join me in celebrating our rich OU legacy. Remember, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said: "Everybody can be great because anybody can serve." You have an opportunity to be great and to serve! Your participation and presence on campus will inspire students in our community to succeed, increase our scholarship fundraising programs, and expand our professional alumni network with one another and the university. I look forward to seeing you in Norman!
